Mentors are adults from all backgrounds and disciplines who share their knowledge, whether it is technical or non-technical with our Tech Team students. While our primary needs are for technical mentors, but we will never turn away a parent who wants to be involved in their child’s activities in a non-technical role. Ideally we have 2 mentors for each of our 4 FTC teams.
As a mentor of one of our teams, you will empower students to become young engineers and future game changers. You will work side by side students to build their leadership and problem-solving skills and, more importantly, their sense of belonging and self-confidence.
TTSD is currently requiring all volunteers to be fully vacinated.
The Tigard High School Tech Team provides students the resources to thrive and succeed, and we remove all financial barriers for students to participate on our teams by never charging participation fees, but the reality is it costs us approximately $2,500 to support each of our four FIRST teams, and about $200 to support our Game Dev team. These expenses include registrations, build parts, team uniforms, competition meals, and other related costs. Because we don’t get funding from participation fees or the school district, we rely on our community partners to fund our program. There are many benefits of becoming a sponsor of our Robotics or Game Design teams.
We highly value our sponsors and want to recognize your support. For all our sponsors, we will display your logo on our team trifold on display at team competitions and outreach events, social media accounts, and branding on our uniforms for more significant donations. At a minimum, we participate in at least five competitions each year, attended by 300-400 people from across the state. This reach increases exponentially if one of our teams progresses to the National competition.
Your contribution will directly enable our students to access new parts and cutting-edge resources, empowering them to explore their potential and push the boundaries of innovation.
First Tech Challenge isn’t just about competition. Our team engages in community outreach events where we share our robot and experiences with our community's younger members to inspire them for their futures. As part of our outreach efforts, we regularly visit elementary schools to showcase the exciting capabilities of our robots. Your sponsorship aligns your company with our commitment to inspiring young minds and fostering interest in STEM education.
